Peak Support Q&A: Lana Charlton
Lana is a Client Services Senior Director at Peak Support. She and her family strengthen their bond by planting plants in the garden and playing a lot of kid-friendly sports. If money wasn’t an issue, she would like to gift herself with a Harvard Extension School degree. Her favorite season of the year is summer, more specifically summers in Maine – which are short-lived, but opens up opportunities for so many fun, outdoor activities. Lana has only seen Horseshoe Bend once, but says that it’s the most scenic place she’s ever been to. The one thing that Lana knows how to do really well? Preparing delicious Ukrainian meals. Watching babies and kids laugh never fails to make her laugh too. Did you know that Lana finished the (David) Goggins challenge last year? Amazing, right? You can learn more about Lana by reading this month’s Q&A blog.
What’s the last song you sang out loud to?
“I Want To Break Free” by Queen. My all-time favorite! I just love the music.
Who makes you smile the most?
My son. He is 5 years old and LOVES to dance. It’s hard not to smile when I see that.
When did you last pamper yourself?
I had my nails done for the first time post COVID, about a month ago. It was definitely a treat.
Where do you go to when you want to clear your head?
I always go to the ocean. We have a small, relatively empty beach not far from where I live. It’s so serene and peaceful there, yet so much power from the ocean. It helps me clear my mind and reflect.
Which actor or actress would you like to get free acting lessons from?
Morgan Freeman. He has such a calming presence, and I would love to be able to replicate that.
How often do you worry about what’s going to happen tomorrow?
I make an effort to use “now” to prepare for “tomorrow” as much as possible.
If you were to create a slogan for your own life, what would it be?
Carpe Diem is always my credo. I like to maximize every day, as much as possible. It can be tough balancing work, family, and sports; but if you plan well – you can truly cease the day.
Why do we fear change?
The unknown is always scary, but you just have to embrace it. I’ve been moving a lot since I was a kid, change is something I love and look forward to.
Would you ever spend your hard-earned money on a self-driving car?
I struggle with the ethical dilemmas self-driving cars present. Also I love to drive and have fun with it. I wouldn’t want to change that experience.
Have you ever ripped your pants/jeans in public?
Not that I can recall.😊
Other than yourself, who knows you best?
My husband and I have been together for almost 15 years now. I’d say he probably knows me better than anyone else in my family or friend groups.
What’s the best thing about growing older?
You know yourself better, become more confident, and your priorities shift. I love getting older and hopefully wiser.
If you could have your home smelling like something, what would it be?
I love the pine smell. Thankfully, we have quite a few pine trees around here so it’s easy to achieve that with just leaving the windows open. I also really enjoy petrichor scent.
What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
I was in San Diego just exploring the Torrey Pines area and came across a paragliding spot. So I went ahead and gave it a try right then and there. It was amazing.
How do you usually celebrate the Fourth of July?
With my family and friends at the lake here in Maine.
